When DJI stops selling a battery, owners still fly the same drone for years. Care and storage matter more once replacements get harder to find. This guide covers practical habits for discontinued Mini-series Intelligent Flight Batteries (including Mini 2 / Mini 2 SE / Mini 4K class packs).
Charge level for storage
For multi-week storage, keep the pack around 40–60% charge rather than full or empty. Many DJI packs show storage guidance in the battery menu or DJI Fly. Top up every 1–2 months if the pack sits unused.
Temperature and environment
- Store dry, away from direct sun, ideally near room temperature (roughly 15–25°C).
- Avoid hot cars, cold garages overnight, and damp bags.
- Do not charge or discharge outside the battery’s stated operating range.
Before and after flights
- Let a hot pack cool before charging.
- Inspect contacts and the shell for swelling, cracks, or unusual heat.
- Retire a pack that swells, smells odd, or fails to hold charge — do not continue flying it.
Transport tips
Use a protective case or the original sleeve. Keep spare packs powered off and separated from metal objects. Follow airline rules for lithium batteries when you travel.
